Dorothea G. Ioannou is the Chief Operating Officer of the Shipowners Claims Bureau Inc., New York, in addition to leading the team in Piraeus. In 2017, Dorothea received the Next Generation Shipping Award at the Lloyd’s List Global Awards in London, which we talk about in addition to the value of social media, to create a talent pool and to be kind to people.
We discuss leadership and the importance of staying on top of things, also the latest trends, if you are going to stay in business. Sometimes that can be a bit challenging, but Dorothea’s advice to everyone is to just keep pushing.
Hopefully, this episode can make you see the beauty of the maritime industry, if you haven’t already seen the light, and take the opportunity to spread these wise words to some of your friends and/or business fiends.
Thank you for listening. I am always available for comments, shout-outs, and conversations. I am @lenagothberg on all social channels.

Episode #89 with Dorothea Ioannou was very helpful in understanding P&I clubs.
It also was uplifting and good advice for ANY career path, offering examples of:
— Living with pride and not arrogance
— Knowing there is always more to learn
— Being kind
— Being generous
Thank you again, Lena, for another great episode of the Shipping Podcast.
