No trade, no shipping – global trade, maritime shipping
Global trade is impossible without transportation, and every country relies on maritime trade to sell what it has and buy what it needs. Since there is more transportation on the water than onshore, maritime transport is dependent on trade. That’s why this episode is all about trade.
Cecilia Malmstrom, Former EU Commissioner for Trade and now a non-resident senior fellow at PIIE (Peterson Institute for International Economics), is the interviewee in episode 181.
We discuss shipping from a global trade perspective. Cecilia has been representing the EU in various trade negotiations. She knows everything there is to know about trade agreements, politics and how to take many different viewpoints into account when negotiating.
